Submit a Scientific Communication for Approval

Last update: March 18, 2021

Reviewing of the scientific communications by the NuAge Database and Biobank aims to follow-up on the commitments made towards the use of data and biological samples from the NuAge Database and Biobank, to ensure the accuracy of the information related to the NuAge Study and the NuAge Database and Biobank in ensuing communications, and to allow tracking of the Banks' scientific milestones in order to ensure their funding and perennity.

Documents concerned

Articles, conference abstracts, oral and poster presentations, letters to the editor or any other method of disseminating research results from the use of data and biologic samples from the NuAge Database and Biobank.

The Steering Committee approval process

The requesting investigator (or another user designated by the requesting investigator) must send an electronic copy of the scientific communication to the NuAge Database and Biobank via this web page (see below), and do so, once this communication has been reviewed and approved by all the co-authors and before submitting it to the target media.

The NuAge Database and Biobank will conduct a technical review of this communication and will send a communication submission approval to the requesting investigator, with or without requests for corrections. It takes approximately 2-3 weeks to receive an answer from the Steering Committee.

Technical aspects reviewed

  • Objectives deriving from a secondary project approved by the Steering Committee and still holding a valid ethics approval;
  • List of authors (regarding the data used in the project);
  • Adequate description of the NuAge cohort, the NuAge Database and Biobank, the data and samples used in the project, the selection of the sub-sample being studied (if applicable), funding sources and ethics approvals of the NuAge Database and Biobank and the secondary project;
  • Date of receipt of the data file from the NuAge Database and Biobank
