An agreement has been reached between the NuAge Database and Biobank and the Institut de la Statistique du Québec (ISQ) to obtain the medico-administrative data held by the RAMQ and the MSSS for each NuAge Database and Biobank participant whose consent was approved by the CIUSSS de l'Estrie-CHUS Research Ethics Board (REB).
The extraction of this information held by the RAMQ and MSSS about the participants in the NuAge cohort will be matched with multidimensional data and analyses of biological samples from the NuAge Database and Biobank. This will allow the academic scientific community working in the field of aging to answer multiple innovative research questions in the context of secondary research projects undertaken, for example, to:
- Identify early predictors of specific clinical outcomes whose occurrence requires a long period of observation (e.g., identify an early blood biomarker of Alzheimer's disease);
- Evaluate the efficacy, risks and benefits of drug use on the elderly (e.g., impact of genetic variations on long-term drug efficacy and safety [pharmacogenetics]);
- Identify early factors underlying the use of health and social services to determine their impacts and benefits, including the economic aspect (e.g., impact of social participation among seniors on the risk of depression and the use of services [medical consultations, medication, etc.]).
The medico-administrative data will be available to researchers during Spring 2024! Researchers interested in using these data are invited to submit an acces request via the NuAge Database and Biobank’s website.
*This data integration is supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec and approved by the CIUSSS de l'Estrie-CHUS REB.
