The primary objective was to fund $60,000 of an innovative high impact factor project that would use biological samples from the NuAge Database and Biobank.<\/p><p>Among the various proposals submitted and evaluated by the independent Evaluation Committee mandated for this competition, the project proposed by Professor Guylaine Ferland\u2019s team (Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al) was selected. Entitled \u201cCognition and physical function in the NutCog cohort: Assessing the role of circulating ceramides and their relation to vitamin K status\u201d, this project involves the measurement of serum ceramide levels (targeted lipidomics) in 320 participants of the NutCog substudy, in collaboration with the metabolomics platform of the Montreal Heart Institute Research Centre co-directed by Dr. Matthieu Ruiz (Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al) and the scientific expertise of Professors Gilles Gouspillou (Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al) and Nancy Presse (Universit\u00e9 de Sherbrooke).<\/p><p>Results of these new assays will eventually be added to the assays already integrated into the NuAge Database and Biobank for the NutCog project participants and which are accessible to our bank users (<a
